The Cyprus government has announced an extension for its Mortgage to Rent Scheme, allowing eligible homeowners two extra months to apply. Initially set to close on 31 July 2026, the deadline now moves to 30 September 2026. This move comes amid growing public interest and a surge in applications in recent months.
The Ministry of Finance confirmed the extension following a notable increase in applications after reopening the scheme in May 2026. Although the eligibility criteria remain unchanged, the uptake of this government-backed programme has accelerated as the original deadline drew closer.
Data from KEDIPES reveals that between 2023 and the original deadline, a total of 4,269 applications were lodged. Impressively, 929 of these came in between May and July 2026 alone. Of the total applications received, 1,211 have been approved, and 846 properties have already been transferred to KEDIPES.
While application forms can be downloaded from the official KEDIPES website or collected from regional offices, applicants must submit their completed forms in person as hard copies.
Forms should be submitted at one of the following KEDIPES regional offices:
Applicants should verify that all necessary documentation accompanies their submissions to avoid delays.
