The Cyprus Ministry of Finance has announced a two-month extension for the Mortgage to Rent Scheme application deadline, now extended from 31 July 2026 to 30 September 2026. This government-supported programme offers eligible homeowners the chance to secure housing support by converting their mortgage liabilities into rental agreements with the Cyprus Asset Management Company (KEDIPES).
The decision to prolong the application window follows a surge in interest, as confirmed by the Ministry of Finance. After reopening in May 2026, the scheme’s eligibility requirements remain the same, but uptake has accelerated significantly in recent weeks, prompting the extra time for applicants to submit their forms.
Data from KEDIPES shows that between 2023 and 31 July 2026, more than 4,200 applications were filed. Notably, 929 applications were received between 4 May and 31 July alone, with around 1,211 approvals and 846 properties already transferred under the scheme.
While application forms can be downloaded online and collected from regional offices, applicants must remember that submissions need to be made in person with hard copies only. Completed applications are accepted at KEDIPES offices located across Cyprus:
Applicants should double-check that all necessary documentation is attached before submission to avoid delays.
For additional guidance, potential applicants can contact the KEDIPES customer service center at +357 22 743400. This extension offers a valuable opportunity for homeowners struggling with mortgage payments to explore flexible housing alternatives before the new deadline on 30 September 2026.
