Cyprus Affordable Housing Scheme: Current Progress and Financial Insights

The Cyprus Interior Ministry recently reported that just over €2.2 million has been collected from developers participating in the affordable housing scheme through planning incentives. To date, three developments using the financial contribution option have completed both planning and building permit processes, contributing a total of approximately €2.21 million. Further funding relies on the pace of permit issuance and on-site construction activities.

Geographical Scope of Affordable Housing Projects

The Interior Minister identified five developments with the most significant affordable housing allocations, spanning districts such as Kato Polemidia, Ypsonas, Livadia, Panagia (Nicosia), and Apostolos Loukas (Aradippou). These developments collectively allocate affordable housing on the following scales:

• 682 m² in Kato Polemidia
• 491 m² in Ypsonas
• 527 m² in Livadia
• 404 m² in Nicosia
• 400 m² in Aradippou

Once completed, KOAG plans to offer these homes at the set rate of €1,650 per square metre.

It’s crucial to clarify that these figures correspond to future housing deliveries; they exclude KOAG’s own projects in Kaimakli, Aglantzia, and Strovolos, which operate under separate permits.
